The Group Dynamic of the Dynamic Group

While all the others posts merely reflect on their groups by citing that they are the “best group”, I am just going to say that my group was a very efficient and productive group, seeing as I do not know much about the activities of the other groups. Being only a six person group and all being business majors with the exception of one person, we were able to communicate effectively about our topic due to our business background. Right away, we created a Facebook group so that we would have a forum where our ideas can be shared with each other. We had a clear agenda and made sure to remind each other of the assignments we needed to complete and collaborated to complete them. Whenever members were unsure of a specific part of the assignment, the others members of the group could effectively address their questions and clarify the procedures. We did not allow groupthink to happen as we made sure that each and every member of the group agreed with the suggestions made before deciding on them. When we met to create our presentation and finish up our project, Ambi created the prezi, Anupama worked on the bibliography, Christy worked on the outline, which Tom and I assisted on. In addition, we also created our individual parts for the prezi so Ambi would be able to easily put them together. Overall, there was a collective group effort in creating the presentation and completing all the necessary tasks to ensure our success on this project. Although we may have had a little difficulty at the beginning brainstorming for our topic, considering that business is such a wide topic, we all agreed on international business. Luckily, we had few disagreements and no major conflicts so the groupwork went along smoothly. Even when some of us were not able to make it to some of the meetings, we let our group members know ahead of time so they could plan accordingly for the appropriate absences. With prior planning, we were able to accomplish everything we set out to, even if all the members were not available for the group session. Another part of our success was the trust between the group members. We trusted each other to complete our individual assignments and interviews. We also trusted each other to participate in the groupwork and help each other accomplish the parts so nobody would be doing all the work, and likewise, there would not be anybody who was doing none of the work. In conclusion, I was very pleased with the group I was put in and thoroughly enjoyed with my classmates who had similar majors to me. Our one exception, Christy, was at first somewhat overwhelmed with the business approach considering that she is a premed major, but we all collectively helped her along until she was comfortable with our topic for the project. I would like to think that our group assignment was a major success not just for myself, but for every single member of my wonderful group.
