Class, I apologize for publishing this blog post so late. I made the announcement on Facebook earlier but I was just able to be reunited with my laptop again.

First of all:

I'm extremely anxious to get back into teaching and have decided that despite how difficult it will be to commute from DC on my still-recovering leg, I will be off pain killers as of Thursday and that's enough for me to be able to stand in front of the class again. So I WILL see you Friday.

About your interview questions
Please do not go into your interviews without having done research on your field/career path your group has chosen and the communication issue you have decided to explore. That idea is that when you go into your interviews it will NOT be to learn things for the first time... rather, the idea is that you'll go in there with some background knowledge so that you can carry a conversation with you interviewee.

For your interviews, you SHOULD develop an agenda with an opening, your questions (which should include but not be limited to the 10 questions your group emailed me), and a closing. Remember that you will be writing an interview reflection post (due October 27) and you'll need to be able to reflect on how you opened the interview, the questions, and how you parted with your interviewee.

Assignment (instead of tomorrow's class)

The time has come to find someone to interview. Remember what Ernesto shared with us -- Google professionals in the DC area and around Maryland, use LinkedIn, Facebook, search on Twitter (you do not have to have a Twitter account to search on Twitter). Remember that I will give you two additional points (out of the 50 you can earn) on your interview reflection blog post if you interview a professional that is outside of your normal reach and network.

THE ASSIGNMENT: Tomorrow, dedicate AT LEAST the 50 minutes of our class to doing research on potential interviewees.
