Nick Saban: Sport's Most Powerful Coach

Nick Saban, head coach of the University of Alabama Crimson Tide football team is widely considered sport's most powerful coach. In reality he is more than a coach he is the face of an entire athletics program. He is the most highly paid NCAA football coach of all time and makes more than plenty of NFL head coaches.

The secret is: he deserves every dime of it. His success is unmatched and his genius is undeniable. He does not only win football games but he builds a formula to ensure future successes. Take into consideration his first NCAA head coaching job at Toledo. In the two previous seasons prior to his hiring the team had two 6-5 seasons. In his first season he took the team to a 9-2 record with his only two losses being by a combined five points. After reenergizing the program of Michigan State, he eventually moved onto Louisiana State University, where in 2003, he took the team to their first national championship win since 1958. He has gotten 13 different "Head Coach of the Year" awards including two AP National Head Coach of the Year awards. At his current post at the University of Alabama in three shorts years he already has a Heisman Award winner and a National Championship under his belt. His all time record in the NCAA is 129-51-1.

His success can be seen on and off of the field. He has always maintained a "academics first" style of managing his team and his teams are always instilled with the values of discipline and hard work, ensuring that his players see success not only in football but in life. In his five years at LSU he produced 84 Academic All-SEC honorees, with 25 of them being on the National Championship team. When not on the football field he can be found helping out a local hospital or leading the charge for a huge donation to a charity. He has started many of his own charities and it is needless to say that Nick Saban is not only a great leader, but a great human being.
